General Farm Description: ABOUT CHELENZO FARMS Founded upon a dream of a healthier life closer to nature, Chelsea & Lorenzo (Chelenzo) moved to New Mexico from New York in 2021 with their family to plant regenerative roots in the Land of Enchantment. Chelenzo Farms is a work-in-progress and will offer visitors the opportunity to tour and experience an homestead in action. Applying permaculture, organic farming and land conservation principles, the Dominguez Family & Team aspire to rejuvenate the magical landscape into a flourishing rain garden and small scale farm replete with edible native plants and trees. Set in high desert mountains of Cerrillos, New Mexico, Hacienda Domínguez & Chelenzo Farms offers guests the opportunity to hike daily on 350 acres just east of the Turquoise Trail (Route 14) and directly above the Galisteo River Basin. Upon the land, nature lovers, hikers and outdoorsmen alike will discover arroyos, caves, mesmerizing 360 degree vistas of the mountains that surround Santa Fe, as well as awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets. Internship Details:

Chelenzo Farms – a small-scale organic research and education farm in Cerrillos, NM – is looking for farm help!
Please take a look at what we’re doing and what we can offer in terms of compensation and see if it might be a good fit for you. Ideally, we are looking for folks who can stay for at least a month at a time, with long term work preferred so long as both parties feel it is a good match. Regardless of the compensation option, a two week trial period will be implemented to help us ensure it’s a good fit.

CURRENT & UPCOMING PROJECTS
Maintaining and building garden beds at our 1000 square foot garden space.
Help in the design/construction of a 33′ Growing Spaces Grow Dome (coming early Oct. 2022!).
Implementation of FY23 NMDA Healthy Soil Grant project (August 2022 – May 2023)
Land conservation work including building terraces, burms, rainwater distribution/catchment infrastructure.
Care of animals (chickens, goats): feeding, water, bedding changes
Trail and fence creation and maintenance.
Irrigation set-up and maintenance.
Tree and plant seeding.

DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
Daily care (during assigned work days) of chickens and goats
Planting vegetables, cover crops and trees trees; seed saving; and weeding
Help with basic construction projects
Installation and maintenance of irrigation systems
Trail maintenance
Occasional maintenance at guest house (pool, hot tub, weeding)
Help with building rainwater harvesting earthworks
Assistance planning, setting up, and facilitating education workshops
Must be able to lift at least 40lbs at a time
Must be able to conduct manual labor for at least 2 hours at a time

COMPENSATION OPTIONS
If you are new to organic farming and would be in need of housing:
We can offer volunteer experience with housing provided in an onsite remodeled trailer, as well as provide food for two meals a day and required registration through WWOOF USA.
20-25 hours per week

If you are new to organic farming and would NOT be in need of housing:
We can offer a starting wage of $13/hr
20-25 hours per week

If you have experience in organic farming and would be in need of housing:
We can offer paid work at $10/hr with housing provided in an onsite remodeled trailer, as well as provide food for some meals.
20-25 hours per week

If you have experience in organic farming and would NOT be in need of housing:
We can offer a starting wage of $15/hr
20-25 hours a week
