General Farm Description: Newton Farm Collective is a small organic, biodynamic farm in the Catskill Mountains in New York. We farm 2+ acres of vegetables, grains, and herbs, medicinal and culinary, with an emphasis on nutrient density though soil amending, low till practices, and cover cropping. We produce a range of added value products: kimchi, pickles, fermented veg, jams, hot sauce, farm made apple cider vinegar infused with herbs and botanicals and herbal teas, tinctures and bitters. We sell at two local farmer's markets and an onsite farm store.

Internship Details:

This is a paid internship that includes room and meals. We have 1 or 2 interns per season and they learn and participate in every aspect of the farm operation, including making added value products, seeding in green house, bed preparation, transpanting, weeding, harvesting, vegetables packing and market sales. There are indoor farm house bedrooms, and camping available. The work is 25 to 30 hours a week and includes off time to enjoy our beautiful valley which has some of the best hiking trails in the Catskills. We also have a maker’s craft collective onsite and do farm, culinary, and craft workshops and skillshares for our community throughout the season.

Educational Opportunities: All life on the farm will be an educational opportunity. You will work closely with our farm manager and the farm owner. You can be a part of every activity and learn greenhouse propagation, vegetable growing, chicken management, beekeeping, culinary arts, medicinal herbs, and farm sales.

Skills Desired: Some vegetable growing experience is preferred. Motivation, enthusiasm, efficiency, humor, and excellent attitude toward all work is more important. Ability to work in all weather and lift 50 lbs is necessary.

Meals: We provide meals.

Stipend: We offer a weekly stipend.

Housing: We provide housing: there are single occupancy bedrooms in farm house, an onsite small cabin with adjacent outhouse, and also camping sites.
