Internship informationGeneral Farm Description: Our farm is entering our seventh year of production. We farm 10 acres of specialty vegetables, fruits, rice, buckwheat and dry beans. We sell at two area farmers markets and many restaurants in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. We grow using organic and regenerative methods including cover cropping, minimal tillage and crop rotation. We work very hard to create a team environment where employees have an opportunity to learn all aspects of the farm operation and grow into leadership positions.

Educational Opportunities: We provide structured, hands-on experience and training throughout the season.
Skills Desired: Our crew members work closely together to accomplish a wide variety of tasks on the farm from crop seeding to harvest and market prep. We work hard to create a positive, structured environment where team members can quickly gain knowledge and proficiency in the day-to-day operations of the farm. Tasks include: greenhouse seeding, crop transplanting, cultivation, harvest wash and prep for market and restaurant sales, irrigation, and more. We are seeking applicants who are focused, enthusiastic, and interested in contributing to their community and environment through active involvement in the food system. Additional skills and qualifications for this role include: Being physically capable to lift heavy objects and work in all weather Ability to work well with others and independently A positive attitude Attention to detail and speed Commitment to work the entire season (March through November) Reliability and ability to arrive on time every day Commitment to work some extended hours on Friday afternoons as market prep requires Previous farm experience is preferred, but we are also open to those who have not farmed before and are eager to learn quickly. This position is 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. 40-45 hours per week. We do not provide on-farm housing. We do provide training, support and a daily group lunch made with produce from the farm. We also encourage crew members to take home vegetables and enjoy the bounty of the farm. Meals: Fresh-cooked meals are provided daily on the farm and eaten communally.
Stipend: Pay is hourly and competitive with raises awarded throughout the season.
Housing: We do not offer on-farm housing.
