General Farm Description: Wild Peace Farm is a certified organic vegetable farm that sells at farmers markets and through a CSA. We also sell pasture-raised eggs and certified organic cut flowers.

Internship Details:

Interns will participate in all aspects of vegetable and flower production including: greenhouse seeding and management, bed preparation, transplanting, weed and pest management, harvesting, washing and packing, record keeping, and customer service and education with CSA members and at farmers markets. Interns will also help feed/water and rotate our flock of hens, collect and wash eggs. Interns must have a valid drivers license.

Educational Opportunities: Interns will have the opportunity to participate in farm tours and field days at other nearby organic farms.

Skills Desired: Farming is physically demanding and repetitive, with a need for efficiency but also attention to detail. It is also incredibly rewarding. We are looking for someone who is: hardworking, conscientious, responsible, efficient, enthusiastic, positive, and interested in learning and sharing ideas. Previous farming experience is preferred but not necessary.

Meals: Produce and eggs from the farm fully available to all interns.

Stipend: $11/hr if living off site, or weekly stipend of living on site.

Housing: Housing includes a canvas platform tent with a woodstove, a heated outdoor shower, a composting toilet, and a covered outdoor kitchen with a propane cookstove and small refrigerator. Additional cold storage is available. The housing is rustic but we strive to make it comfortable. The living area is on the farm but has privacy. The farm has a small trout stream and almost 100 acres to walk and explore. A hiking and biking trail runs right through the farm, with the small town of New Freedom 2 miles away by trail. Grocery and a wide variety of other stores are just 10-15 min away by car. We are about 40 min north of Baltimore.
