Internship information
General Farm Description: Wood Thrush Farm (WTF) is a small diversified vegetable operation based in Ulster county. More than your average vegetable farm, Wood Thrush is a culinary experience. Throughout the seasons we seek to bring a wide array of carefully orchestrated flavors and aromas, to inspire and excite customers, and embolden them to rethink how they prepare meals in their kitchens. We grow over 200 varieties of vegetables and fruits throughout the season, maintain a coop of around 100 laying hens, and sell it all weekly at a NYC Greenmarket. Specializing in high quality hand harvested baby greens and micro greens, we use the term UNconventionally grown (coined by Morse Pitts); we grow without the use of any pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. WTF is a successor business of Windfall Farms (Morse Pitts - Montgomery, NY), and is woman-led, by farmer Laurel Bell. In 2021 we moved our base of operations from Windfall to Four Winds (can’t get away from the wind we know) and are excited to have finished out our first season on their remarkable land. Four Winds Farm, established in 1988 and located in Gardiner NY, is a diversified Organic vegetable operation, which grows on 2.5 acres using no-till permanent bed methods, creating our own fertility from on-farm composting systems. While the majority of our greens and vegetables are grown on Four Wind’s land in Gardiner, we continue to lease an acre at Windfall for additional bulk crops.CRAFT Member Farm? No
