General Farm Description: We are a nonprofit educational farm located in Waco, Texas. Our goal is to alleviate hunger through local education, community partnerships, and outreach through our various programs. Our farm consists of a 2-acre organic market garden, rotationally grazed pastured livestock, and an education area with an urban homestead, rabbit colony, and retail building.

Internship Details:

This is a temporary part-time garden crew member position (June-July) with the possibility of extension (will be reassessed in June); 4-8 hour work days Mon-Fri with 1-hour unpaid lunch break and Saturday Farmers Market duty on a rotational basis; daily start time varies by season. Beginning at $10/hr, dependent on experience; 5 days paid vacation; 7 all-farm holidays, 5 days sick days, 25% discount on all farm produce, meats, & merchandise.

Experience with gardening and vegetable production desired, but not necessary. Must be able to sustain extended periods of time working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs. Must have a high school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Garden Crew Employee will work closely with the Market Garden Manager and Director of Farm Operations. Instructions and guidelines are specifically written or verbally given, but employee is expected to
troubleshoot in the moment as needed and to ask supervisor for help and clarification with tasks that they are unsure
of. While working with plants, work is subject to frequent changes while also being simultaneously predictable. Work is closely supervised and frequently reviewed.
