Internship information
General Farm Description: Small CSA with pigs, cattle, chickens (and maybe some sheep). We practice no-till "hand agriculture" with permanent beds. Use only organic methods, but not certified (going for certification next year).

The ideal candidate would be someone who is interested in pursuing farming as a career and wants to see the full ins and outs from start to finish for a small CSA farm with animals. No experience necessary.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

  • Ability to partake in physically active farm tasks for 32 hours a week

  • Positive, friendly attitude

  • Respectful and kind to everyone. Full stop. Non-negotiable.

  • Clear, proactive communicator

  • Ability to do some things independently (with direction and support of course!) 

Desired Qualifications (but not necessary!):

  • Love eating food and/or cooking

  • Love being outside

  • Like to laugh

  • Play or enjoy music

  • Enjoy pondering and discussing the mystery and beauty of existence

  • Want to practice language learning with us (we are learning Spanish, French, and German)!

Benefits:

  • Private guest bedroom with a queen bed (you will share a bathroom with one other person and any WWOOFers or other guests).

  • “Pick-your-focus” flexibility – will try to offer multiple options for what you do on the farm each day when possible (sometimes we have some “all-hands-on-deck” moments).

  • Walking distance to  Devil’s Lake State Park (Wisconsin’s most popular state park) and other great natural areas. Ability to borrow our kayak, canoe, or bike too!

  • 20 minute drive to Wisconsin Dells, home of many great unnatural areas, if that is more your thing!
