General Description: Spruce Top is a small vegetable farm located on our off-grid homestead 10 miles north of Homer, AK. We sell our produce primarily at the Homer Farmers Market. The farm is still young and growing, which means we are developing new ground and working on infrastructure projects as well as growing and selling vegetables. Our vegetables are grown without any chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. The location of the farm is private with beautiful volcano views across Cook Inlet, yet only a mile off the highway for easy access to Homer or Anchor Point.

Minimum Length of Stay: Prefer full season

Meals: We will provide a meal/meals on workdays. You are welcome to produce from the garden as available.

Skills Desired: You must have an interest in vegetable farming and enjoy working outdoors
Be willing to listen, take direction, and learn
Able to take on responsibilities as season progresses
A desire or willingness to live in an off grid setting without all the amenities is essential

Educational Opportunities: Growing a variety of vegetables, both in high tunnels and outdoors, from seed to harvest;
Processing and marketing vegetables;
Building structures;
Setting up farm infrastructure (fencing, irrigation, etc);
Developing new ground;
Homesteading skills

Stipend: $100/wk, extra paid work may be available at times

Housing: A small private cabin will be provided. It will have a stove but no running water. You may shower at our house.

Internship Details: The intern will work directly with me on all aspects of running the farm. This will include a diverse array of projects and tasks. The internship will be 4 days a week, 7.5 hr days, with some flexibility on days and times. A couple may be a possibility.
