General Description: Gaucho Farms is a small, diversified, family farm in southeast Alabama. We raise 100% grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured poultry and eggs, pesticide-free vegetables, and blueberries.

Internship Starts: July or August 2012
Internship Ends: flexible

Meals: Some produce and meat provided.

Skills Desired: Excellent work ethic, self-starter, personable, desire to farm sustainably, ability to handle basic farm equipment, tractor, lawnmower, weed-eater, not timid around farm animals or adverse to poultry processing, not adverse to necessary cleaning, and composting work. Ability to drive truck and trailer and haul livestock a plus. Gardening skills a plus. No drugs or smoking, alcohol only in moderation after work hours.

Educational Opportunities: Hands-on animal husbandry skills development, farm business and marketing skills, value-added product creation and development.

Stipend: $500 per month.

Housing: Nice, one-bedroom apartment, furnished, appropriate for single or couple. A/C, dish t.v., satellite internet access.

Internship Details: Intern would be responsible for overall farm operations including animal health, feeding and pasture management. On-farm poultry processing or close supervision of processing. Vegetable gardening, farmers market assistance, possible value added product production. 30-40 hours per week minimum.
