Big Fire Farm
Contact: Janelle, Yasha
Last Updated: 02-18-2014
General Description: Come join us on our 35 acre farm under the big, beautiful skies of the
Cariboo! Our farm relishes a warm micro climate on the west bank of
the Fraser River, between the communities of Willams Lake and Quesnel.
The vegetables and fruits produced are sold locally through a farmers
market, and a small CSA. This region offers a rich cultural history of
the gold rush, our farm having paddlewheelers passing by it back in
the day. In addition there are music festivals, lakes and swimming
holes, a newly opened micro brewery, and plenty of wild splendor.
We are looking for two people, or a couple to come and work along side
us for the season of 2014. Coming to our farm would be an excellent
opportunity to get first hand experience in the early years of
starting up an organic vegetable and fruit farm. Idea candidates will
have a strong work ethic, good attitude, enjoy laughing, appreciate
good food, and are eager to learn the market gardening trade. There
will be several opportunities to partake in food
preservation/fermenting, brewing, poultry care, wood/metal work, and
various construction jobs. Educational resources in regards to the
organic farming trade will be made available to interested persons.
Accommodation will be in a renovated school bus, or a tent. Meals and
prep will be shared in our home. A stipend will be negotiable based on
an applicant's previous experience and monthly farm sales.
Please send a resume with references and brief description of why you'd
like to intern on our farm. A video interview will be required via skype
or gmail chat.
We look forward to hearing from you!
