General Description: Green Flamingo Organics is a small organic farm in the midst of citrus groves located in Oak Hill Florida. This is our eighth year of production and we are changing and innovating a lot this season. We are using more mulching, more stale bedding practices, two wheel tractor and implements, and lots of other new and fun Farm Toys!We are also into permaculture practices and have lots of different areas around the farm that are filled with perennials, hugokultur beds, national habitats for wildlife, etc. We are a small market garden set up on a land lease that is much larger (140 acres), so it is the best of both worlds- small garden propagation, but lots of green space and wildlife habitat to enjoy the beauty and animals of Florida. The farm produces for a CSA starting September through May, local restaurants and markets. An internship at the farm will delve into all things important to starting your own market garden or moving into a leadership role at a farm. We are very community and education oriented and we want to make sure that all interns leave here with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to move forward on their farming path. We are located 30 miles south of Daytona Beach, FL, in very close proximity to Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, Canaveral National Seashore, and miles of inter-coastal waterway.
