General Description: Ivan's Fig Farm is a two acre non-certified organic fig farm and market garden that operates from Jefferson County, Missouri. We are roughly 30 miles southwest of St. Louis off Highway 30 (Gravois). We grow over a dozen varieties of figs in geothermal greenhouses as well as a multitude of vegetable crops. We use our excess produce to make preserves and other value added products. We are a small farm that has steadily increased production over the past 15 years.

Skills Desired: We are seeking someone with at least one year of farming experience, but preferably more. You must be able to work in hot and humid conditions, lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, and be a "team player." You must be self-motivated, have good people skills and strong attention to detail. A driver's license and reliable transportation is required, however, carpooling from inside St. Louis is a distinct possibility. We are looking for a long-term, dependable worker. Proficiency in Russian or Bulgarian is a plus but not necessary.
Educational Opportunities: As a worker at Ivan's Fig Farm you would have access to our four geothermal heated and solar powered greenhouses where we start seedlings and grow a fraction of our market figs and vegetable crops. We deliver to three St. Louis markets in the height of the growing season and are working towards building/reestablishing restaurant accounts. We are looking towards expanding our tillable land and our crop selection; there is plenty of room for noodling on farm and business plans.
Stipend: Pay is hourly and determined by experience.

Internship Details: We are offering a full time hourly position to a resourceful and energetic individual. Being as that it is the height of the season, we are looking for someone who can "roll with the punches" and who is looking for a job where they can take ownership. A regular week could be between 40-50 hours. We pick figs every day and market vegetables at least every other day. There is plenty of work to be done and many opportunities for fresh ideas.
