General Description: Procter Center is a camp and conference center that is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio. We have a 6 acre organic farm to raise vegetables and pork for use in the on-site kitchen. We also sell our products on-site to our visitors and at farmer's markets. The Center is located in rural Madison County, Ohio on 1,200 acres. A thousand acres are farmed commercially and the remaining acreage is used for the camp and conference center and our organic farm. The Center is committed to sustainability in all aspects of the operation and continues to strive for excellence in the area. In 2017 all the produce served in the dining hall will come from our farm or be locally sourced withing 50 miles.

An Intentional Community is being developed on the cornerstones of spiritual development, hospitality, and sustainability. This is the first year that an Intentional Community will be in place and envisioning and creating the community will be part of the work that the farm staff will do this year, with the option of staying on and part of the community.

During the summer months The Procter Summer Resident Camp is in full swing. During the school year individuals and groups utilize the Center for meetings and retreats and food from our farm serves them all. The ideal candidates will be flexible and can go with the flow. There will be structure and norms for the work, but there will also be room for creativity and exploration.

Meals: Interns will have access to farm produce, meals prepared by our kitchen, and leftovers.

Skills Desired: Interns should possess a philosophical enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture, hard work, and community. Practical knowledge and experience in organic gardening is advantageous but not required. We are looking for people who demonstrate responsibility, reliability, initiative, creativity, and a strong work ethic

Educational Opportunities:

Stipend: Interns will receive a monetary stipend not less than $300/month. Farm Managers salary will depend on experience.

Housing: Interns will be provided housing on the farm. This could be in the form of a house, eco-pod, or a cottage. Accommodations are modest and comfortable. Interns will have access to hot showers and a shared kitchen.

Internship Details: Procter Farm is a production oriented and educational diversified vegetable, fruit, and pig farm in Central Ohio. We supply Procter Camp & Conference Center with a substantial amount of fresh produce and meat while North Market in Columbus, and donating to local community organizations. We extend our season with a heated greenhouse, a hoop house, and row covers. We plant 2 acres outside. Though not certified, we use only organic practices to grow our food. At Procter, we recognize the connection between the land, our labor, our food, our bodies, and our spirit and that as we engage each element with due conscience we are cultivating healthier persons and more just societies.

We are seeking 3-5 Interns and 1 Farm Manager. The Internship position is seasonal from April-October with the opportunity (but no requirement) to evolve into a member of our budding intentional community built around the pillars of sustainability, hospitality, and spiritual development. Community members will eventually live on site, year round, in community taking on roles in the farm, kitchen, and hospitality.

The Farm Manager will train, educate, and supervise farm interns and other volunteers. The ideal candidate will have 2 years' experience in organic farming with 1 year in a supervisory role. They will demonstrate organization and thorough knowledge of organic vegetable production.
