General Description: Our farm is a 40 acre diversified farm producing a very wide range of organic vegetable crops for our large CSA, farmers market, and restaurant clients, but we also produce small amounts of honey, fresh cut flowers, figs, persimmons, medicinal herbs, and pastured eggs.

Meals: Vegetables from the garden are available to our interns. Community dinners with the Red Moon Farm family are frequent, 2-3x per week.

Skills Desired: Outdoor work experience is required. Vegetable production experience is strongly preferred.
Skills needed in crop farming and needed in our farm hands: Applicants need to be able to show that they work quickly, pay close attention to detail, and can see long or difficult tasks through to their end. Strength and endurance is essential (Ability to walk long distances, lift 40 lb repeatedly, and 60 lb occasionally etc.)
To fit into the farm culture we have cultivated here at Red moon Farm applicants need to be positive, friendly people who enjoy community.

Educational Opportunities: See above. Our entry-point into farming was through good quality internships that valued our education as eager learners. We are happy to share with you from our experience and education, directing you to good quality reading material and resources for the best learning experience possible. We have also built a wonderful network of farmers in East Texas which we encourage you to field-trip to.

Stipend: Variable. $500-$900/mo. depending on experience and choice of living arrangements

Housing: Housing is NOT currently provided. Intern housing is planned to be built in 2018. We can accommodate an RV or travel trailer (that you provide). RV living comes with utilities paid, access to our washer and dryer and bathroom.
Rental apartments within 2 miles of the farm are around $625/month.

Internship Details: Our interns will learn the ins-and-outs of a working CSA farm to include:
seed starting & greenhouse management
field production
soil fertility
cover cropping
weed and pest management
irrigation
harvest & post-harvest processing
packaging and distribution of a CSA
Also some experience will be gained in farm record-keeping, sales, marketing, and CSA software management.
