General Description: Gaia Rising Farm is located on beautiful Guemes Island in the San Juan archipelago of Washington State. It is but a 5 minute ferry ride into the town of Anacortes. Our homestead has for 25 years been an example of sustainable living methods, including photovoltaics and greywater systems.
Gaia Rising Farm is a nonprofit dedicated to providing food security in a changing world and helping our community to make a transition to a life without dependence on fossil fuels. We have completed our first season as a member supported farm. Our focus has been on growing staple crops such as small grains, dry beans, onions, corn, squash and potatoes and also winter vegetables. We are accepting volunteers who will work 20-30 hours per week on the farm and homestead in exchange for room and board in our lovely home. Learn all about how we are growing the majority of our yearly food needs and about how to store and preserve the harvest bounty.
