General Description: We are a picturesque certified organic 5 acre farm with orchard, vegetable crops, herb gardens, honey bees, family milk cow, Nigerian Dwarf goats, several cats, and flocks of chickens. Our main focus is organic heirloom vegetables and herbs that we sell at farmers markets and through our CSA. We will not compromise our core values of sustainability and nurturing the soil, and farming the way we do takes a lot of work. We can provide an amazing opportunity to experience all aspects of a sustainable, small, organic farm.

Internship Starts: ASAP
Internship Ends: Ongoing
Number of Interns: 3
App Deadline: Until positions are filled.
Minimum Length of Stay: 2 week trial period, then full season, or long term

Meals: All meals and even some treats provided. 3 vegetarian meals per day, with occasional meat options for omnivores. We will supply additional snacks, teas, and coffee. We feed our interns very well, and pride ourselves in this.

Skills Desired: Previous experience on any form of farm is a bonus, as is construction or mechanical experience or aptitude, but neither are necessary.

Educational Opportunities: We are certified organic and are striving to be as sustainable and self-reliant as possible. Our interns will be exposed and have opportunities to learn all aspects of biointensive permaculture based farming. We farm with a year round model and only grow heirloom crops, and are exploring seed saving, beekeeping, cheese making, milking, animal husbandry, orchard management, greenhouse management, all aspects of vegetable and herb production, permaculture building, medicinal herb cultivation and processing (salves, tinctures, etc), and may throw in alternative energy and fuels and whatever else there is time to explore.

Stipend: Stipend and profit sharing options available, to be negotiated depending on start date.

Housing: Housing for primary interns will be in a travel trailer, with use of the house for restroom, eating, laundry, etc. For those staying through the Fall and Winter the interns will be included in helping build a low footprint permaculture village for our current and future interns. We are exploring low impact cedar cabins, yurts, geo domes, star plate houses, tepees, earthen houses, etc.

Preferred method Of Contact: Phone or Email

Internship Details: We are looking for 2-3 good long term interns interested in helping our farm grow, evolve, and reach it's fullest potential. We have several levels of internships available including uncompensated short term options, and longer term vested interns that will help us build and create our vision for the future. For our long term vested interns we expect full involvement in all aspects of our farming operation. Our ideal interns will be self starters, with a strong work ethic and sense of urgency, able to to be meticulous when necessary, or fast moving and thorough as needed. They will have a true desire to live a sustainable lifestyle, and really learn what it is to be a farmer. We work long hours, with no tractors, 60+ hours per week during the main season, Winters are full of visioning and creative projects. Interns will have 1 day off per week.
