The farm grows a wide variety of vegetables, herbs and some fruit using only chemical free methods. Skills Desired: Previous experience in farming is preferred but not required. Required are a positive attitude, a good work ethic, the ability to communicate clearly and to adapt. Manual labor experience is valuable. Although there is a great variation in farming, many tasks are monotonous and physically demanding. We often spend a lot of time on our knees weeding, or lifting and walking with heavy bins of produce. A current drivers license and clean driving record are preferred.

Educational Opportunities: It is important to know that this is an employment position for those geared towards good food and physical work. Experience comes from participating wholeheartedly in the daily grind, attending markets and gaining real world "flight time". Training the full time crew on farm operations is a top priority. Conversations along the way about the what's and why's of farming is encouraged.

Stipend: First season pay is $1700/month, rent and utility free housing with private room in a nice crew house, vegetables and some basic food staples, and year end bonus paid upon completion of the season. The year end bonus is 5% of our farmers market sales divided between the 3 full time crew. Full time crew members returning for a 2nd season receive $2200 monthly pay. The hourly breakdown for the salaries for 1st and 2nd year crew members are approximately $9 and $12/hr respectively reflecting a 45-50 hr work week. This is not including the value of accommodations. There are no deductions from pay other than state and federal taxes, medicare and social security.

Housing: Housing is provided during employment on the farm. Full time crew share a house in the town of Frederic, 3 miles from the farm. This house is modern and comfortable. It is close to the library, biking trails, park, hiking and DT Frederic. Each employee has a private room. The house has 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Crew members will be responsible for keeping the house clean and doing yard work. Though housing is provided as part of employement, the farm does deduct a damage deposit from the first paycheck of each crew member, which is refunded when the farming position ends. All employees must sign a housing agreement before moving in.
