Indiana Farmer Pursuing Carbon-Negative Beef Production

Dave Fischer and his family are working to make carbon-negative beef production a reality on their Indiana farm, reports Indiana Prairie Farmer. Fischer Farms received a Climate-Smart Commodities grant that is helping to measure the amount of carbon captured in the soil by practices such as using annual ryegrass cover crops, feeding kelp, and building soil health. The multi-year grant is also helping Fischer to recruit other producers to raise high-quality beef using his proven practices, so that they can command a price premium for their environmentally friendly product.
