Massachusetts Agricultural Food Safety Improvement Program

The Agricultural Food Safety Improvement Program (AFSIP) is a reimbursement grant program that supports produce and aquaculture operations that are looking to improve their food safety practices that work towards minimizing the risks of microbial contamination and food-borne illnesses while increasing market access. Applicants must be legally recognized entities within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, own the property where the project will be located, and be principally and substantially engaged in agricultural production for commercial purposes. Maximum project funding is $50,000, except produce operations may request up to $200,000 in grant funding specifically for the new construction, retrofitting, or expansion of a commercial washing and packing facility.
