Rabbits

Rabbits are an alternative livestock species worth considering, particularly for small-acreage or beginning farmers. Raising rabbits requires a comparatively small initial investment and only a small amount of land. It can be a seasonal operation, can utilize pasture, and can generate quicker returns than other livestock enterprises.

Potential rabbit producers should be aware, however, that regulations for processing and selling rabbits vary significantly by state and that processing infrastructure and markets aren’t well developed in many locations.
