Farm to School Sales: Profiles of Ranches Making It Work
USDA Food and Nutrition Service announced the award of $12.1 million in Farm to School Grants. These grants support projects that will help bring fresh, local foods into schools and foster economic opportunity for America’s farmers. This year, the annual Farm to School Grant Program included a new track specifically for state agencies seeking to engrain the use of local foods not just in the school meals programs but also in childcare centers and at summer meals sites. A total of 27 states applied for and received this grant. Grants of between $20,000 and $100,000 were awarded to a total of 159 projects in 46 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam.
