16 Nov USDA Grants Support Programs Helping Veterans Pursue Ag Careers
USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture has announced the award of six grants through the Enhancing Agricultural Opportunities for Military Veterans Competitive Grants Program. This program provides grants to nonprofit organizations for training programs and services to establish and enhance farming and ranching opportunities for military veterans. The funded projects will increase the number of military veterans gaining knowledge and skills through comprehensive, hands-on, and immersive model farm and ranch programs offered regionally that lead to successful careers in the food and agricultural sector. Awardees were Farmer Veteran Coalition, Davis, California; North-South Institute, Davie, Florida; Servicemember Agricultural Vocation Education Corp, Manhattan, Kansas; Veterans Employment Base Camp and Organic Garden, New Bern, North Carolina; Recipe for Success Foundation, Houston, Texas; and Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship, Inc., Medford, Wisconsin.
