Western Illinois University to Bale Campus Grass for Livestock
Western Illinois University is setting aside 32 acres of campus grass for baling rather than traditional mowing. The plan will both save on mowing labor costs and provide food for livestock at the University Farm. Administrators anticipate that the plan will produce 50 to 60 large round bales of grass/clover hay. By fall, the fields will be returned to manicured mowed condition.
