Internship information

General Farm Description: Bibb Forest Farm is a for-profit, organic farm that prioritizes excellent goods, soil health, and regeneration. We have been growing market gardens since 2018. We currently grow a wide range of vegetables, herbs, cut flowers, raise honeybees and grass-fed beef and lamb. In addition, we simulate wild mushrooms growing on logs while managing 150 acres of woods regeneratively with conservation objectives. We participate in a weekly online farmers market, attend one Saturday farmers market, and sell on our own website.

Internship Details:

Workers will take part in greenhouse work, transplanting, cultivating, watering, harvesting, packaging, and marketing, among other facets of small-scale vegetable production. While prior farm experience is not required, it is essential to be at ease performing strenuous physical labor in a variety of weather conditions. Both a strong work ethic and a keen interest in agriculture characterize our ideal applicant.

We will have a total of 2 employees for the 2024 season with occasional workaway guests helping during the season. We are currently looking to fill the following positions:

1 Farm crew member-$2,000/month + shared on-farm housing (6 month)

The farm is located 5 minutes from the town of Louisa, 45 minutes from Charlottesville, and an hour from Richmond. We try to treat our help like family and offer invitations to join for off farm activities and leisure.

Educational Opportunities: Jesse offers 6+ years of experience running this farm. Along with four prior years with hands on and academic work in the Netherlands centered in horticulture and business management. Feel free to borrow any books or ebooks while here.

Skills Desired: This is a working farm so grit and flexibility are important. Farming with the weather we will have times of intense work ethic and then a morning to sleep in after the rain. We ask that you are able to lift around 50 lb, have a positive attitude and humility. You can expect the same from Jesse!

Meals: Farm produce available for eating
