General Farm Description: World Hunger Relief is a nonprofit, regenerative farm and education center in Waco, Texas, dedicated to alleviating hunger through education, research, and regenerative agriculture. For nearly 50 years, we have worked to create sustainable solutions to food insecurity while fostering a deeper connection between people and the land. Internship Details:
World Hunger Relief’s Internship offers a transformative 10-month journey into on-farm Environmental Justice and Sustainable Agriculture. An introductory internship for anyone whether homesteaders, future farmers/ ranchers, or advocates. Participants engage in hands-on experiential learning, working closely with seasoned professionals in the field. Through a blend of on-farm activities and in-classroom learning, interns gain a deep understanding of climate-smart agricultural practices.
Interns learn to harness nature’s potential while mitigating environmental impact and cultivating resilience in the face of climate change. This immersive program not only equips interns with practical skills but also instills a passion for addressing food insecurity through sustainable means, fostering a new generation of change-makers in the realm of agriculture and environmental justice.
This program is an immersive experience where interns live on-farm as they progress through the learning experience. This entry-level agricultural internship provides opportunities in sustainable agriculture and food justice, ideal for aspiring homesteaders, food system advocates, and future farmers or ranchers looking to gain foundational knowledge and practical skills in the food system.
Educational Opportunities: This internship is designed to be educational through classroom learning, hands on experience, and expert mentorship.
Skills Desired: No specific skills or experience required. This is designed to be friendly to those wishing to enter into regenerative agriculture or continue to hone their existing knowledge and technical skills.
Meals: Interns will be supplied with some produce from the farm as it is available and community meal with the farm staff once a week.
Stipend: $1700 per month paid on a bi-weekly basis
