Pearlstone Center is hiring a Farm Intern to join our team. Pearlstone Center’s retreats, educational programs, and farm engage more than 20,000 people each year including individuals, families, and Jewish, faith based, and secular organizations.
From March 1st until November 1st, the Farm Intern will be responsible for tending our certified organic kitchen gardens, high tunnels, educational gardens, animal pastures, and U-Pick strawberries. This is a key position on a small and highly effective agriculture and land stewardship team. Together, we have 40 years of experience in organic agriculture and farm-based education.
This is a great opportunity for those at the beginning of their farming journey to experience full time farming and learn by doing on a four-season production farm.
The Farm Intern will be paid a monthly stipend of $1000. Onsite housing is limited, but applicants can expect a furnished three-season outdoor tent with shared kitchen and bathroom. Food will be provided, including plenty of fresh vegetables from the farm. Farm Intern will also have opportunities for additional on site learning and professional development with our team.
Candidates will have worked or volunteered at a farm and be eager to complete a full season of production. Applicants knowledgeable in growing basics, four season production, organic and sustainable agricultural practices preferred.
Those familiar with the work of Pearlstone Center will recognize the value of this opportunity. If you are just becoming familiar, you should know that the farm lives on a beautiful 180-acre campus just 20 miles from the cultural center Baltimore City. Our professional staff is diverse, talented, and really enjoys working together.
