Internship information
General Farm Description: Good Cheer is a non-profit 501c3 organization that operates a choice-based grocery style food pantry, two thrift stores, and a no-till organic diversified vegetable farm. Our 1.25 acre farm grows food year-round to stock our food pantry with delicious, nutrient dense vegetables, herbs and flowers. We believe that the health of our soil is paramount to the health of our community and are constantly striving towards a thriving microbial ecosystem. We are not certified but we utilize organic and no-till principles. We are a human powered growing operation: silage tarps and a weed whacker allow us to manage cover crops and other organic matter, materials are moved with wheelbarrows, and beds are broadforked and shaped with a tilther. We host weekly volunteer work parties and our crew works closely with regular volunteers. We also have potluck lunches with farm volunteers, and throw pizza parties once a month where we invite volunteers and friends alike to make and enjoy woodfired pizza from our cob oven. While we strive for a high standard in our growing spaces and of our team, we also believe that farming is impossible without balance. We try to weave fun into our days and focus on gratitude for our ability to be outside and among the wildlife that surrounds us. We expect diligent, detail oriented hard work, and we also want to foster an environment that understands the whole person. Our Farm Workplace Values: Dignity, Gratitude, Honesty, Curiosity, Reciprocity, Land stewardship, Community cultivation We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
