General Farm Description: Matthew 25 is a vibrant, growing non-profit organization located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our mission is to improve the health of people and neighborhoods by investing in quality affordable housing, healthy food, educational opportunities, and community building. The Cultivate Hope Urban Farm works to support several pillars of Matthew 25, including, but not limited to, education, community building, and food access. In addition to production for a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture), farm stand, the Corner Store, and Groundswell, it also hosts school groups and summer camps, holds community building events, and runs a high school job training and leadership development program (the Youth Development Program).CRAFT Member Farm? This internship runs from May 19th-August 21st, 2026.
The Education Intern works closely with the Education Leader and assists with all areas of educational opportunities provided through Matthew 25. The priority will be on our Cultivate Hope programs, which focuses on local food, food access, urban agriculture, and sustainability. The Education Intern is dependable, organized, loves working with kids, comfortable working outside in variable weather, and passionate about local food production and education.
The Intern will typically work 30 hours per week, typically 8 am to 2 pm, with some Thursday evening hours required.
Benefits include $14–17 per hour, depending on experience; paid holidays (Memorial Day and Independence Day); 4 days of PTO (for vacation or sick-day use); a CSA share (weekly produce); and discounts at Groundswell cafe and the Corner Store. We do not offer housing, but if you would be relocating to Cedar Rapids, we can support you in connecting with housing opportunities.

Educational Opportunities: This internship mostly involves experiential learning, though we do have a few field trips to local food/land organizations planned. You will be involved in teaching educational workshops and activities to a range of ages, and have the opportunity to develop curriculum if you are interested.

Stipend: $14–17 per hour, depending on experience, 30 hours a week
Housing: No, though if you are moving from out of town, we can support you in finding housing.
