Abundant Life is owned and run by Jeff and Kaylee Armstrong on the western slope of Colorado in the beautiful north fork valley. We are a small family farm seeking the help of a few hard working interns that have a serious interest in learning how to grow quality organic food. We need a solid commitment from mid to late May until mid October. We have tried shorter stays, but it does not work for our family or farm. In exchange for your commitment and hard work you will receive the hands on experience needed in growing food organically as well running a small organic farm. We grow a large assortment of vegetable row crops including numerous varieties of heirloom tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, summer squash, beets, sweet onions, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, lettuce, arugula, haricots verts, spinach, and a delicious selection of specialty melons. You can expect to participate in marketing, distribution, farmers' market set-up and sales, and customer service, and some potential field work. You must enjoy working with people, customer service, be in good physical condition, and have a strong work ethic. Our main income comes from direct selling of our product at two area farmers' markets, one on Fridays and one on Saturdays. We also market our produce at our on site farm stand and a few local wholesalers We place a strong emphasis on QUALITY produce. We are seeking paid interns to work in assisting in post-harvest packaging, packing produce, marketing and distribution. We pay $320 weekly before taxes based on a 40 hour work week. If you work more, we pay accordingly. We expect a 40-50 hour work week, including early mornings and Saturdays with 1 -2 days off per week. Some produce will be available when in abundance. We have a small bunkhouse for sleeping in as well as ample camping space if it is preferred. There is an old funky kitchen with a sink, stove and refrigerator equipped with the basic dishes, silverware and pans. We also have a newer bathroom with two showers and a separate toilet room.
We are a family operated farm located in the beautiful North Fork Valley of Colorado, which is home to numerous organic farms and orchards. Hotchkiss is a rural community with a limited social life. Hiking, biking and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors are abundant. Our main income comes from direct selling of our product at our road side stand and at farmers' markets. We have a total of 90 acres, with about 4 under production. Our personal interest include languages (Japanese, Spanish,), cooking, sewing, and eating well. We cannot accommodate children or pets. We are a smoke, drug and alcohol free farm and do not permit the use of these substances while here. If you are interested, please contact us by phone or email. Our season starts in May and ends in October
