The Organic Farm School (OFS) is a learning center for beginning farmers intending to manage community scaled farms according to principles of ecological, economic, and social regeneration. We teach what new farmers can’t learn on-line: how to think critically, plan thoroughly, and pivot as needed, with boots and hands in the soil. We also provide a diversity of programs and activities to engage our broader community in learning about their role in creating and maintaining strong local/regional food systems.

Our residential core training program runs for 8 1/2 months, March-November. Program includes equipment training (tractors, BCS units, belt thresher, and seed clipper), basic crop science, crop and business planning, pasture raised poultry management, soil development, incorporation of research into farm planning, seed production and processing, community development, marketing training, and MORE! Post graduation opportunities are available as well; including incubator farm space at Keystone Farm and Forest Preserve and other land access opportunities.
