Internship information
General Farm Description: 20+acre Organic/biodynamic farm business on Bainbridge Island, Wa., a short ferry ride from Seattle. A rural island setting on Puget Sound with the maritime climate of Olympic rainforest and Cascade mountains. Beautiful acreage of rolling hills with pastured animals integrated in our food production. We specialize in season extension techniques to provide fresh produce throughout the year to our local community. Over an acre of various sized greenhouses, high tunnels, low tunnels and row covers to protect a wide variety of crops. Providing lots of fresh produce to our local community and food banks has become even more crucial during these trying times. Our other main focus is maintaining high levels of sustainable soil fertility in our farm. We accomplish this with extensive aerobic composting, large compost tea brewers, humic acid applications, no-till cultivation practices and cover cropping. I am looking for a young seriously motivated individual who is experienced with organic farming. This opportunity is for a hard working individual who is ready to learn and develop a successful small farm business plan. We emphasize a complete curriculum including all aspects of organics and biodynamic farming in a classroom setting in conjunction with hands on field work.
