General Farm Description: Matthew 25 is a vibrant, growing non-profit organization. Our mission is to improve the health of people and neighborhoods by investing in quality affordable housing, healthy food, educational opportunities, and community building. The Cultivate Hope Urban Farm works to support several pillars of Matthew 25, including, but not limited to, education, community building, and food access. In addition to production for a CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture), farmers’ markets, the Corner Store, and Groundswell, it also hosts school groups and summer camps, holds community building events, and runs a high school job training and leadership development program (the Youth Development Program). Internship Details:

The Education Intern works closely with the Education Leader and assists with all areas of educational opportunities provided through Matthew 25. The priority will be on our Cultivate Hope programs, which focuses on local food, food access, urban agriculture, and sustainability. The Education Intern is dependable, organized, loves working with kids, comfortable working outside in variable weather, and passionate about local food production and education.

Skills Desired: ● Must be organized, dependable, and open to learning new skills and tasks. ● Must comply with Matthew 25 Child Protection Policy. ● Ability to safely carry out relevant farming tasks. ● Enjoys working with volunteers, students, and interacting with the public. ● Passionate about farming, local foods, food education, and food security. ● Caring about economically challenged people and neighborhoods. ● Desire and drive for your work to contribute to an inclusive and sustainable society. ● Commitment to the organization’s mission. No previous education or professional experience is required, but any of the following could be helpful: ● Experience working with youth ● Gardening or Farming experience ● Coursework in agriculture, sustainability, conservation, or environmental studies ● Knowledge of small scale organic farming practices ● Able to engage in healthy conflict ● Considerate of safety issues that may arise on the farm, including child safety ● Good at interacting and communicating with volunteers, students, and the public ● Able to delegate tasks, deliver feedback and hold others (and self) accountable ● A safe driver with a valid driver's license and acceptable record

Stipend: Benefits include compensation of $15 per hour; paid holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day); and discounts at our markets, Groundswell Cafe, and the Corner Store.
