Internship information
General Farm Description: The farm is located in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, a short drive from the White Mountains. The farm is surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservation land and pristine woods, with lots of lakes and rivers nearby. Small towns and outdoor recreation are easily accessible. We are a Certified Organic vegetable, herb and flower farm on 5 acres including high tunnels and greenhouses for seedling production. We grow produce for our farm stand, summer & winter CSA, and local wholesale accounts. Our produce includes mixed vegetables, culinary and medicinal herbs that we process for herbal teas, and seasonal flowers. We sell arrangements of flowers in our farm stand and to local businesses, in bulk buckets, and also as PYO flowers. On Saturdays, we serve Breakfast on the Farm that features our produce including green and red chiles, and other locally sourced ingredients.

Internship Details:

We have a great opportunity for people interested in learning how a small organic farm can function: from seed to transplant, maintaining crops, composting, fertilizing, turning fields, the organic certification process, harvesting, marketing, and developing a local foods business. Our work is diversified and shifts with the season in a pleasant way.  Our work will include harvesting & processing herbs, and serving a Farm Breakfast on Saturdays.  The work we accomplish together in the early part of the year is strikingly different from midsummer and autumn.  Our work will be varying depending on the day and the task.

Farmers that we hire will work with us on most tasks, excluding office work but some opportunities exist for the right person to learn our sales and office tasks.

We are looking for someone who is excited about working with us on Saturday during our Farm Breakfast:  this work includes preparation of the food and beverages we will serve, preparation of the tables and patio, welcoming customers, taking orders, delivering food & beverages, bussing tables, washing dishes, storing service items, accepting payments, rectifying receipts, cash, and credit statements, and other associated tasks.

Farmers working with us in 2025 will also work with us in maintenance, harvesting, drying, processing, and storing culinary and medicinal herbs, as well as packaging these herbs for use as teas.

We require a valid drivers license.  A good attitude and enjoyment of the challenges of hard work is essential to a positive experience.  Our work is outside everyday in all types of weather.  We lift 50 pounds regularly.  We are down on our hands and knees for hours at a time doing work that can be repetitive.  We often work together but also must work independently.  We work  8 – 10 hour days.   Physical labor is a constant but aerobic and a fun challenge.

We expect a positive attitude. A good sense of humor is important. We expect a willingness to work hard, at a brisk pace under challenging conditions, in all types of weather.

Educational Opportunities: In addition to learning on our farm, folks working with us will have the opportunity to attend workshops with MOFGA and NOFA-NH, UNH Cooperative Extension, and farm visits with our Foothill Farm Alliance community.

Skills Desired: We are accustomed to working with folks with limited experience and have plenty of patience for learning, but also appreciate skills people bring to the farm. We are happy when people can work independently on a variety of tasks and find/have an inner motivation to do things well. A drivers license is required.

Meals: No, we do not provide meals but lunch time is paid!

Stipend: We offer hourly pay of $10 - $16 per hour depending on experience.

Housing: Yes, we have housing on the farm including an off grid cabin with screened porch.

Preferred method of Contact: Email
