General Farm Description: Our agricultural practices cultivate healthy soils, crops, pastures and livestock to produce healthy, nutritious food for the communities that we serve. We believe that these practices offer multiple benefits to our farm and our region because they cultivate healthy relationships on the farm and in the food system, minimize our need for inputs and our production of wastes, and support the accumulation of wealth. Our livestock operation is certified Animal Welfare Approved. Products are distributed via a meat CSA, on-site farm store, and to food access partners as part of our donation program. Glynwood Livestock Apprenticeship
Glynwood’s Livestock Apprenticeship program is for young farmers who are ready to pursue a career raising livestock. Through a combination of hands-on experience and training, apprentices gain a solid foundation in the competencies and technical skills necessary to work on a small-scale diversified livestock operation. The 9-month Livestock Apprenticeship enhances apprentices’ understanding of the principles and practices of regenerative, pasture-based production of beef, pork, lamb and poultry products. This position is compensated at $15.50/hr and includes housing. All apprentices are participants in Glynwood’s Hudson Valley Apprenticeship program.
Click here for the Livestock Apprentice posting and the link to the application form. Apply by October 15, 2024 to be considered for first-round interviews.
Educational Opportunities: Educational Opportunities: In addition to working on the farm, apprentices receive significant education through a combination of a 60 hr classroom-based curriculum with expert instructors and an additional 30-50 hrs of education delivered by farm managers as learning modules.
