General Farm Description: Heyday Farm is a sustainable and historic farm on Bainbridge Island, WA. At Heyday Farm, we cultivate 40+ different varieties of vegetables, berries, cut flowers, and have a demonstration chef’s garden. We sell farm fresh, naturally grown food through our CSA, wholesale accounts, and provide food for the Heyday Farm House restaurant onsite. The restaurant offers weekly farm to table Community Dinners, private events, Weddings, experiences, and professional and family retreats. Our commitment is to increase our collective nourishment, just as family farms did back in their heydays while experiencing and celebrating our region and the food we produce.

Internship Details:

This is a paid position. Heyday Farm House is currently hiring a motivated Lead Farmer to lead our farm team for the 2024 season. We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, farming and enthusiastic about cultivating food for their local community. This person should have a positive attitude, hard work ethic, a team mentality, and good references. Successful candidates will be able to handle the physical requirements of the farm.

Duties include but are not limited to: planning out a year of crops in conjunction with our Executive Chef, hand weeding, hoeing, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, washing and packing produce, working with others, and general farm maintenance. In addition, a willingness to work long days, and good physical health are required.

Educational Opportunities: Leading a farming team, and working in conjunction with a farm-to-table event venue.

Skills Desired: At least 2-3 years farming experience is preferred.

Meals: Weekly fresh veggies are available and dining at our weekly Community Dinners can be accomodated.

Stipend: Compensation for this position is $22.00 – $25.00 per hour DOE.
