General Farm Description: Mama Earth Farm is located in the foothills of El Dorado County, just south of Placerville at an elevation of 3100ft. The farm is on a 20 acre property with about 4 acres of production space. Mama Earth Farm has been producing fresh food for our local community for 14 years. We are 100% committed to organic production methods. We sell our produce through a weekly box subscription program (CSA), our farm stand, farmers market, as well as a couple grocery stores.

Internship Details:

Position 1: nursery and microgreen production leader mixed with harvesting and cultivation.
* Primary task of producing nursery grown plant starts for on farm crops as well as production and harvesting of micro greens. This person should be hard working, organized, schedule oriented, and have a desire to grow high quality seedling starts and micro greens. Paying attention to detail is a must. Experience with raising young plants is a must. Time will be spent, seeding, bumping up starts, transporting starts, watering and feeding nursery, managing production of microgreens such as sun flower sprouts and broccoli, and helping harvest, wash, and cultivate crops when nursery responsibilities have been completed. You’ll typically be working with 1 to 4 other people.
Position 2: General farm field work.
*primary tasks will include harvesting, washing, bunching, proportioning, boxing and weighing crops. Some irrigation will be part of this responsibility. On non harvest days this person will also be an integral part of cultivation and field care. This person should be hard working, organized, schedule oriented, and pay close attention to detail.
Being comfortable working in cold or hot temperatures is part of either of these jobs.
