Internship informationGeneral Farm Description: Mama Earth Farm is located in the foothills of El Dorado County, 25 minutes south of Placerville at an elevation of 3100ft. The farm is on a 20 acre property with about 5 acres of production ground. Mama Earth Farm has been producing fresh food for our local community for 16 years. We are 100% committed to organic production methods. We sell our produce through a weekly box subscription program (CSA), our farm stand, as well as a couple grocery stores.

Position 1: Farm leader. A good match would be someone with several years experience working on small farms and who is a natural leader that feels inspired to keep tabs on many of the necessary everyday functions that keep a farm in the flow of production. You would have to know that farming is what you want to do right now. Does the seasonal commitment to farming for a 6 month growing season work for your life? Goals associated with this position would be maintaining high productivity and high product standards across the farm as a whole. Payed position, negotiable based on experience and skill set. $17 to 25
Position 2: Nursery and microgreen production leader/ farm crew.
* Primary task of producing nursery grown plant starts for on farm crops and retail sales as well as producing and harvesting micro greens. This person should be hard working, organized, schedule oriented, and have a desire to grow high quality seedling starts and micro greens. Paying attention to detail is a must. Experience with raising young plants is a must. Time will be spent, seeding, bumping up starts, transporting starts, watering and feeding nursery plants, and maintaining production of microgreens such as sun flower sprouts and broccoli. The above mentioned tasks are part time and largely about daily or weekly cycles. Remaining routine will be spent helping harvest, wash, and cultivate crops when nursery responsibilities have been completed. You’ll typically be working with 1 to 4 other people. **currently looking for someone who loves working with flowers. –Harvesting and bouquet work.
Position 3: General farm field and pack/ farm crew.
*primary tasks will include harvesting, washing, bunching, proportioning, boxing and weighing crops. On non harvest days this position will also include planting, hoeing and field care. This person should be hard working, and pay close attention to detail. Payed position $17 to 20
Being comfortable working in cold or hot temperatures is important, but we do try to organize tasks based on the weather as best as possible. You’ll typically be working with 1 to 4 other people.
We all work together here, with certain team members taking responsibility for particular key tasks. The schedule is flexible to make this job work harmoniously with your other life priorities.
