Internship Details:
We are looking for a hard working, dependable and competent person, or couple, interested in learning about organic dairy and livestock farming. Responsibilities will include milking, haying, running equipment, feeding animals, cleaning barns, putting up and taking down fence, feeding animals, collecting and washing eggs, bottling milk, tapping maple trees, building animal shelters, processing meat birds, managing the farm store etc.
Educational Opportunities: Learn all about organic farming with cows, sheep, pigs and poultry. Sustainable land and small farm management. Homesteading skills.
Skills Desired: It would be nice to find people who have worked on other farms before but it is not required. We are willing to train the right people. We need individuals who can safely work with large animals. Individuals with experience on other farms with livestock would be preferential but is not necessary if those applying feel they are comfortable working with livestock. We are also willing to teach people how to operate farm equipment if they don't already know how but, again, they must be comfortable with the idea of working with heavy equipment. Most importantly we need people who are dependable, can problem solve and work on their own; people who can put down their cell phones and commit to a hard days work.
Meals: Yes, we can.
Stipend: Yes, depending on amount of experience.
Housing: Yes.
