General Farm Description: Midori Farm is a 30 acre organic vegetable farm located in Quilcene, WA on the Olympic Peninsula. 2024 will be our 17th year growing produce for Jefferson County. We grow mixed vegetables for sale at farmers markets, various direct to retail accounts, for our on farm farm stand and for our value added sauerkraut operation. This year we will be growing about 13 acres of veggies and cover crops, and some small fruits. We use a mix of tractor and human power to accomplish our goal of producing healthy food for our community and taking care of our small bit of land as we go.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Job Description: We are looking for motivated, experienced individuals to join our team as Vegetable Production Staff for the 2024 season and beyond. This position includes participating in all aspects of vegetable production. Transplanting by tractor and sometimes by hand, hoeing, hand weeding, using row cover, irrigation work (hand-line and drip), record keeping, property maintenance (mowing and weed whacking), harvesting, washing produce and possibly selling at farmers markets. Leadership positions exist for folks with experience. We have good systems in place and provide a great work place for those wanting to learn to operate their own mid scale veggie farm. We take our work seriously, and really like working with folks who don’t take themselves too seriously. We have fun growing food because we love being outdoors and eating well.

Skills Desired: Successful candidates will: -Have minimum 1 year farming experience on a production scale farm. -Have a strong interest in organic farming systems, a love of vegetables and enjoy hard work. -Be self-motivated problem solvers. -Enjoy moving quickly and hustling to get the jobs done in a timely manner. -Be detail oriented with keen observational skills. -Be a team player, willing to do what ever tasks need to be done. -Be flexible with ever changing priorities - Be positive, calm, honest and kind. - Have adult communication skills, and a good sense of humor. •Have a clean driving record , be able to drive stick shift and be comfortable driving and parking a 16’ box truck. -Be able to perform repetitive physical tasks in all types of weather for long periods of time (including kneeling and bending over for long periods of time), while maintaining a positive attitude. -Be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
Meals: Free vegetables from the farm and we have a farm chef prepare lunch for the whole crew once per week.
Stipend: This is a paid, full time job. $16.50 per hour to start.
