Internship Details:

Intern will be expected to be able to milk cows and all other duties as required for grass dairy and beef farm operation.

Educational Opportunities: Will learn all aspects of dairy and beef farming. Intern will also be able to participate in firefighter/EMS training at the local volunteer fire station. Intern will be able to make emergency runs with the fire department.

Skills Desired: No specific farm work experience required, however, intern will need to be willing to work hard and learn from doing. Intern will be housed at the local volunteer fire station, so, firefighting experience will be preferred. Farm is 10 miles from Sellersburg Ivy Tech, 15 miles from IUS, and 20 miles from U of L if intern is interested in higher education. Must have own transportation. Farm is one mile from fire station. In person interview is required. Must be over 18 years of age.

Meals: Yes, some will be provided.

Stipend: Yes a stipend will be provided as well as share of farm sales. The fire department will pay a dollar amount per alarm based on training level.

Housing: Yes, housing will be provided at the local volunteer fire department.
