General Farm Description: At Nine Acre Farm we grow 80,000 sunflowers, have several beehives and a small peach and apple orchard. We are located in Skillman NJ and are a sustainable farm.

Internship Details:

The job includes working in the field cutting flowers each morning, stocking the farm stand, and preparing for weekend farmer’s market. Work includes field maintenance including helping to run and pull drip lines and cleaning equipment. Position also includes harvesting and bottling honey from our beehives. This job starts early, near sunrise and requires strength to lift and carry a five gallon bucket full of flowers and water, lift honey supers from hives etc. We are not looking for someone who thinks it might be fun to work on a sunflower farm, this job is hard work in mostly hot and humid weather.

Educational Opportunities: Opportunity to learn all aspects of flower production including soil preparation, field maintenance, harvesting, prepping for market and selling. Opportunity to learn all aspects of beekeeping from building hives and frames to caring for bees and harvesting honey.

Skills Desired: Individual should have an "artistic eye" for cutting high quality flowers, must be attentive to detail, arrive on time, have a strong work ethic and be prepared to work for the entire season (until Mid-October). Prior farm experience is preferred and prior floral experience is a plus. Must have the physical ability to lift 25-30 pounds. No beekeeping experience is required - we will teach you.
