Internship information
General Farm Description: Hi! My name is Tanner. I am a small market gardener who is looking for a part-time intern this year (2023, May-September). This is my second season farming in Zone 5B, near Bayfield, Colorado. My methods include the use of the most novel tools and equipment utilized by most modern market gardeners. I also utilize hugelkulture, no dig, and biointensive methods on my farm. My mentors include farmers such as: Jean-Martin Fortier, Eliot Coleman, Conor Crickmore, and Charles Dowding. I have also have farming experience under a few local farms. I currently have ¼ acre cultivated but am looking to expand to 1 acre this season. Additionally, I am adding a CSA to include up to 25 shares with 3 drop-off points in the Pine River Valley and possibly Durango. I attend the Bayfield Farmer’s Market every Saturday, and typically take Monday off from work. Typical hours will be 7:30 am – 11:30 am Tuesday – Saturday. Hours will vary depending on Market and CSA drop-off. There is flexibility with the schedule to accommodate your current schedule. Since this is an internship, I will mentor you along the way and take the time to teach you what I know. I am sure you will teach me lots too as I am a lifelong student of my craft. The pay will be $14/hr + a weekly food share. You must be able to perform physically-demanding work as most of the work we will perform is manual farming. This is a drug and alcohol-free workplace so please consider that when applying. Thank you. Please send resume’ to me at your convenience. #beyondorganic #marketfarming #farmingintern #beginningfarmers #zone5CRAFT Member Farm? No
