General Farm Description: Shenandoah Seasonal is a four season vegetable farm utilizing organic farming practices. We are going into our 9th growing season. We grow 3 acres of produce (1/2 acre in high tunnels). We are market gardeners - attending four farmers markets a week in Washington DC and suburbs. Farm crew members will help in all aspects of vegetable production. This includes but is not limited to weeding, transplanting, irrigating, bed prep and harvesting, post harvest washing, packaging and organization, greenhouse and tunnel work (moving and setting up mobile tunnels, trellising, seeding starts, etc). Crew members will be expected to attend farmers markets including waking up early to drive to farmers markets, setting up the vegetable display, and establishing great customer relationships on behalf of Shenandoah Seasonal. Farm maintenance can include everything from aiding in infrastructure projects to mowing grass around the farm. Expect the work to be physically and mentally demanding and the weather conditions to vary. The farm crew will be expected to work in all weather conditions. This is a fast-paced and physically demanding job. Work hours will typically be 40-50 hours per week (depending on the season) with two days off per week. You will be expected to work on either Saturday or Sunday depending on what sales outlet you are responsible for. There is opportunity to grow with our farm and we are searching for motivated candidates who are interested in taking on management roles and who ideally, would like to manage a farm enterprise of their own one day.


Educational Opportunities: Yes

Skills Desired: We prefer prior experience working on a farm. Experience in customer service is a must. Ability to have a good attitude and multi-task is also a must. You must be able to work in a team as well as independently and be trustworthy and accountable. Please apply if you have the ability to learn with an open mind and have a willingness to work hard. Our farm operates in all weather, rain or shine, hot or cold. So you must be prepared for the elements. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
