We are hiring for two separate positions that will start as seasonal, but may extend to year-round for the right candidate.
Farm Crew are the core of operations at Closter Farm. Farm Crew will assist in all aspects of the farm including:
-Seeding, transplanting, cultivating, bed prep, pest management (IPM), harvest, post-harvest wash and pack, livestock management (broilers), sales (on-farm Market), marketing, maintenance and upkeep (tools, tunnels, etc.), projects (building caterpillar tunnels, germination chambers, etc.).
Farm crew members will be able to take point on one or multiple aspects of the Farm based on interest, fit, and demonstrable ability (i.e. trellising and pruning, broilers, wash/pack, etc.).
Previous experience in commercial Organic, biodynamic, and/or regenerative vegetable and animal farming is welcome, but we encourage folks with the determination to learn, who are committed to a full season of work to apply. This position will receive a considerable amount of training and a dedication to the work is more important to success than prior experience.
Farm Market Assistant
We are seeking a personable, communicative, and passionate person to help us harvest crops, and wash and pack them for our on-farm market. Additional responsibilities include stocking our market, and running a secondary register during busy times.
Educational Opportunities: Online resource library, NOFA-NY and NOFA-NJ members, in house library, CRAFT, ample on the job opportunities.
Skills Desired: Dedication to farming for an entire season.
Meals: We provide tons of raw veggies, and have weekly team meals.
Stipend: Yes, gear, food, and more as candidates demonstrate a commitment to the farm and a growing ability to handle more responsibility.
Housing: We are working on an on-farm housing situation, but it is not yet available and we cannot guarantee it for this season.
