Internship information
General Farm Description: Fair Share Farm was incorporated in the Fall of 2014 by owners Emma Hendel and Elliot Seldner. After working for other organic /chemical-free farms throughout the Southeast US, Emma and Elliot knew they wanted to run a small farm of their own. Emma utilized her certification as a teacher to financially support the business in its infancy while Elliot set about creating the basic infrastructure of the farm that exists today. Since 2014, the farm has scaled from a 10,000sq’ garden to now including 20 acres of farmland, an acre of greenhouses, barns and sheds, trucks and tractors. The Farm serves families, home consumers and chefs straight from the farm, at farmers’ markets and regional restaurant deliveries. It is with a sense of pride and privilege that the owners and managers of Fair Share Farm, LLC serve their local community and ecosystem by growing the best food that they possibly can, feed as many people as they possibly can and make every effort to provide gainful, meaningful work to their employees. Fair Share Farm is focused on growing delicious, beautiful produce full of integrity. We use organic growing methods and inputs with the intention of growing nutrient dense food. We select methods of production suited to maximize the output of nutrient dense food while taking a stewardship styled approach to resource and ecosystem conservation. We strive to innovate and improve our systems year-over-year. We believe in a philosophy of perpetual learning and education in order to refine our business to serve our soil, customers and employees. By further developing an efficient farm we can make our food more accessible. If our high quality produce is easy to access then we have the capacity to reinvest in the business and the goal of growing the best food that we possibly can.CRAFT Member Farm? No
