Internship Details:
We are looking for a farm hand/intern to work in our farm. The individual will work in the care of the goats, chicken, vegetable crops and maintenance activities around the farm including fences and trees. Ideal candidate is someone who has cared for or interested in caring for animals, poultry, small diversified farm.
We require someone who can work for 3 hours every day for 6 days a week early in the morning. Starting time varies depending upon the season and it is usually between 6:30AM and 8AM. This job is suitable for someone who is seeking an additional income.
The primary duties include:
- Feeding the goats – daily
- Hoof care – couple of times in a year
- Cleaning the feeding area – 3 times a year
- Cleaning the barn – daily
- Feeding the chickens – daily
- Cleaning the chicken coop – couple of times in a month
- Maintenance/trimming work around the fence – as needed
- Soil preparation for vegetables – Seasonal
- Growing, Weeding and harvesting vegetable crops – Seasonal
- Operate small machinery – When necessary
Qualification
Good work ethic and punctuality

Patience and being careful with animals, tools and equipment
Willing to learn and follow directions
Adapt to the work conditions
Friendly and have a positive attitude
Be able to work outside in all weather conditions
Be able to squat, bend, kneel and lift/move 50lbs of weight
Nice to have, but not necessary
Valid driver’s license
Given the limited number of hours, we are looking for someone in the local area who is able to come in the morning. We also want the individual to be able to take care of the animals if we are out of town.
Compensation: Can be per hour or yearly payment. Minimum wage or higher based on experience.
Educational Opportunities: Opportunity to learn about running a small farm and animal raising.
