EPA Grant to Support Climate-Smart Food Systems in Minnesota

Minnesota received a $200 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help cut climate pollution from the state’s food systems. The Minnesota Climate-Smart Food Systems project includes peatland protection and restoration, expanding support for farmers through the nationally recognized Minnesota Agricultural Water Quality Certification and Soil Health Financial Assistance programs, and replacing gas-powered vehicles and equipment used in food systems like tractors and freight trucks with EVs and advanced clean fuel options, among other measures.
