USDA Offers Food Safety Tips for Farmers Market Shopping

For National Farmers Market Week, USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is offering food safety tips for shopping at a farmers market. FSIS advises looking for vendors that keep perishable products cold and planning to keep purchases cool after purchase and on the trip home. FSIS also offers tips on avoiding cross-contamination, choosing and handling produce, and cleaning reusable bags.
