Internship information
General Farm Description: Love Grows is Ailsa and Brad, a wholehearted farming couple from Bucks County, PA. We’re looking for local folks who want to continue the efficient operation of a small regenerative vegetable farm. This is a 3 ¼ acre operation supporting 3 local farmer’s markets. We focus on greens, roots and all things fresh for market while also producing a fair amount of longer-storing produce. We emphasize human power over fuel and petroleum-product use and we are especially keen to minimize waste of every kind. In 2025 we celebrate 10 seasons of Love Grows and a combined 33ish total years farming, and we consider our vegetable production itch fully scratched. We’ve poured a lot into this operation. Our numbers are dialed in and we are as equipped as peasant farmers can be. We have a large following at the county’s premier markets. Still, we are ready to step back. Tempting as a mic drop is, we would be happiest to see other dedicated growers build upon the opportunities we created against so many odds.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Want to “just farm?” Here you go! A vegetable manager position that even grizzled veg growers can’t scoff at. No unproven budgets, no trust fund owner / farmer-posers, no systems to build or markets to break into. No inexperienced employees if you don’t want them. Just crush some veg! Love Grows is reasonably equipped and is scaled perfectly for another experienced grower to have a good quality of life without just retiring. Varying levels of experience (above the requisite) and enthusiasm are welcome to apply. That’s right, starry eyes are not required! The main idea is: The manager will work in the field and at the markets as the point person and the primary mover and shaker in an operation that no longer requires 14 hour days.
Key responsibilities for this role are: sowing, planting, hand and hand-tool cultivation, irrigation, harvest, wash/pack, general workspace organization, market load/unload and market sales. All tasks are scaled to be achievable by 1 person, usually for no longer than 3 hours per. There is room to invest in new tools and systems, but we draw the line on those that are plastic-based or single-use. There is almost no administrative work to speak of.
The current owner-operators will function in support roles with the goals of training employees to continue this operation’s success and making everyone’s job manageable. We will help staff markets and handle the bulk of field prep and tractor cultivation. We will do a fair bit of the tasks that tend to gum up the works (take trash out, tool and equipment maintenance) so as to clear the way for the manager to stay on top of production. We will each devote up to 30 hours per week to the operation. Candidates with a success record of simultaneously managing production and personnel have the option to hire 1 FT or 2 PT employees.
Prerequisites:
-3 full seasons of experience on a vegetable production farm. Here, a season is defined as full-time work from April to November. A vegetable production farm is defined as a “for-profit” operation with at least 2 acres in full production, and where producing vegetables comprises no less than 85% of funding/income for the operation. Applicants whose main farming experience is on a non-profit or student farm will only be considered for this position if they have a strong manual labor background beyond farming AND a strong reference from someone who has done substantial production for market
-6 week preseason functional fitness training
Pay:
– 1st year salary range: 50-60k per farm season (tiered monthly) depending on experience with room to grow in subsequent years
– Candidates should plan to cultivate an open dialogue about financial needs and realities
Time commitment:
– Ranges from 35 to 60 hours per week, March through December. Winter work is available if main season production goals are exceeded
– Manager leads on all Sat/Sun markets from July-October
– Commute must not be more than 25 minutes
– We are happy enough to scale this operation way down if a well-suited manager is not found for 2026. Because there are significant pre-season energetic and financial outlays, we require a firm commitment for the entire season. Candidates should bring ideas for the structure of this commitment to the interview
– Candidates should apply ASAP to complete the 3-step interview process, including: 1 phone interview, 1 paid ($15/hr) working, 1 sit-down. Hiring decisions will be made by November 25.
Perks:
– Weekly vegetable share ($750 value)
– Eggs / meat / dairy / fruit / pantry staples from wholesale vendors at cost
– 4 days vacation
– $2000 returning bonus for 2027
– Employee ownership, profit-sharing, farm incubation and farm consulting are on the table after 2 seasons
