New Resources Help Introduce Producers to Crop Insurance
The Center for Rural Affairs released Crop Insurance 101, a series of resources designed to introduce agricultural producers to crop insurance. The publication “Weathering the Unpredictable: The Protection Crop Insurance Provides” describes common perils that can result in losses, as well as which crop insurance policies cover each type of loss. The series continues with resources outlining important dates to remember for producers to maintain eligibility for crop insurance coverage, such as the sales closing date, premium billing date, and final planting date. In addition, the guide contains instructions for filing a claim, with the details producers need to ensure they receive full coverage. Another resource in the series includes an overview of Prevented Plant Coverage. The full package of resources is available in both English and Spanish.
