Farmer Portrait: Natasha Crawford, Chesterfield, Virginia
In this series, we spotlight some of the farmers and ranchers NCAT supports. They raise fruit, vegetables, flowers, and animals on farms and urban gardens from New Hampshire to Kentucky, on operations that range in size from less than an acre to more than 40 acres. But these differences mean very little. They share a commitment to stewarding the land and serving their communities, and we are proud to partner with them.
Natasha Crawford, Healing Hope Urban Gardens, Chesterfield, Virginia. Natasha is a veteran and a graduate of NCAT’s Armed to Farm program, and some of her earliest memories include learning about growing and eating healthy food in her grandmother’s garden in Georgia. She specializes in growing a diverse array of vegetables, some of which she first encountered during her military service. Healing Hope is a working urban garden and a healing space for members of the community.
